About Sharon

My name is Sharon Kramer. I decided to start a private practice because I have a desire to work with a smaller caseload and provide quality therapy in a more intimate setting. When possible, I involve family members in the therapeutic process, and as a result I hope my clients will achieve carryover more quickly. Additionally, I can focus on goals that are important to the family at home, which is not always true in a school setting.

I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (MA, CCC-SLP). I am endorsed by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and am licensed to practice in Michigan. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Western Michigan University, and then completed post-Bachelor work and a Master’s Degree in communication disorders from Wayne State University. Following graduate school, I worked for a year in a hospital setting before moving to public schools.

I have worked with a variety of communication disorders and delays, including articulation disorders, receptive/expressive language delays and disorders, developmental delays, cognitive impairments, non-verbal children, fluency disorders, apraxia of speech, auditory processing disorders, and children on the Autism spectrum. I have experience working with English as second language learners, and accent reduction with adults. Although my practice is primarily focused on pediatric population, I truly enjoy working with adults.

Prior to becoming a speech-language pathologist,I was an English teacher in a private school in Detroit. I currently have a Michigan teaching certificate in the areas of English and Speech Language Pathology. I attend the Michigan Speech Language Association conference annually, as well as other continuing education opportunities throughout the year.
